to sleep– Perhaps to dream

flames

Crimson sunrise

lighting on fire my wild eyes.

I looked to you to lead.

Didn’t know what that would mean.

And when I asked you to stop,

you just said “Why?”.

I could think of no good reply.

Couple careless weeks,

I gave up everything to be with you.

Then the fire broke loose,

a blaze tearing down the roof.

Bright flames, the way

you say you love me.

I understand that now;

all flames do is burn things down.

You asked too much,

and I didn’t want to be touched.

You touched me anyway,

acted like it was all okay.

Well, I don’t feel too okay with you,

cause you stole what was mine to lose.

Couple careless weeks,

I gave up everything to be with you.

Then the fire broke loose,

a blaze tearing down the roof.

Bright flames, the way

you say you love me.

I understand that now;

all flames do is burn things down.

You watched my eyes get brighter.

At first you loved the light,

but then the light was not enough.

You wanted all the heat.

I watched you light me on fire.

You say that you love me.

It’s funny that you think I believe you.

Let the fire break loose,

long as I can break loose from you.

Like flames, the way

you say you love me.

I think I’ll use that now,

light those flames to burn us down.
